Abstract
The clinical practice guideline (CPG) is defined as "systematically developed statements to assist practitioner and patient decisions about appropriate health care for specific clinical circumstances". The clinical practice guideline for diagnosis and treatment of low back pain was developed through the adaptation of four CPGs from foreign countries, extensive review of published literature, and consensus meeting of the task force team members who are the musculoskeletal physiatrist. The purpose of this guideline is to help improve diagnosis and treatment of low back pain based on current best evidence. This guideline is composed of three subdivisions, diagnosis, pharmacologic management, and non-pharmacologic/non-surgical management. Total thirty-nine recommendations have been developed. We hope this guideline to help optimizing the clinical practice in diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic low back pain.
